Text-Size Preview

Small text can be hard to read, and it can make a phone feel tiring to use. Larger text can make messages, menus, and web pages much easier to read, with less squinting and fewer mistakes when you tap. This preview shows you the same sentence at five sizes, so you can compare them side by side in your mind and choose the size that feels comfortable for your eyes.

The preview on this page only changes the sample sentence here. It does not change the text size on your phone. Once you have picked a size you like, follow the link below to the full step-by-step guide, which shows you how to change the setting on your Galaxy phone. Take your time. There is no rush, and you can change the size again later if your eyes feel tired or if a size turns out to be too big for some screens.

Some apps use their own text sizes, so a change in your phone settings may not change the text inside every single app in the same way. Most menus, messages, and web pages will follow the phone setting. If one app still looks small, look inside that app's own settings for a text size or display choice, or ask a family member to help you check that app.

How to use this tool

  1. Read the sample sentence below at its starting size.
  2. Tap one of the size buttons. Watch how the same sentence changes.
  3. Try each size, from Small to Extra large, and notice which one you can read most easily without leaning in.
  4. Note the size name shown under the preview, for example "Large" or "Very large".

Good morning. Today is a good day to call your family and read your messages in comfort.

Worked example

Example: Sara finds 16 px too small and 30 px too big for her screen. She tries 26 px and finds she can read the sentence easily without leaning in. The preview shows "Current size: 26 px — Very large." She then opens the guide linked above and follows Settings > Display > Font size and style to choose a matching size on her own phone. When you tap "Try the example", the preview is set to 26 px, Very large, so you can see the size Sara chose.

Frequently asked questions

Will making text bigger break anything on my phone?

No. It only changes how big the letters look. Your photos, contacts, and messages stay the same. You can change the size back at any time in the same settings screen.

Why does one app still show small text after I change the setting?

Some apps use their own sizes and do not follow the phone setting fully. Look in that app's own settings for a text size choice. If you cannot find one, the app may simply keep its own size, and that is normal for that app.

What size should I choose?

Choose the smallest size you can read easily without leaning in or squinting. For many people that is Comfortable or Large. If your eyes get tired quickly, try Very large. Use this preview to compare, then test the size on your own phone.

Can I make the text bigger only for messages?

The phone setting changes text in most places at once. There is no simple phone-wide choice for messages only. Some message apps have their own size setting inside the app, so check there if you want messages larger than everything else.

Where is the full step-by-step guide?
